Global Notes…

Nov 16, 2016 Our India team returns today. This has been one of the more challenging trips this year for a Connection Pointe team because of the demonetization of 85% of India’s cash by its government. Buddy Faulkner texted me from India on Saturday and said, “This will not deter us.” While the team’s ability to travel was affected, the ministry continued. Their last two days were spent serving and encouraging in the slums of Delhi alongside ASSI. Your prayers have been heard and much...

Global Notes…

Nov 9, 2016 This Sunday I encourage you to join others around the world who are praying for the persecuted church. (More at www.Idop.org)  The Apostle Paul talks of “participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for his body, the church.” (Col 1:24) We are also commanded to remember “those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies.” (Hebrews 13:3) Our church supports several ministries in countries where the church is persecuted and believers feel the physical...

Beyond the Stethoscope … 100 Patients in India

The little ones came from the railroad tracks, like one does not imagine, but the world permits, dressed in filthy clothing and layered thick with dust. Their feet were bare. ASSI lined them up in rows on the floor of the cement schoolroom and they sat in silence as a group of foreigners paraded in and took their spots in plastic chairs up front. The yellowing whites of their eyes lit up and crooked-teeth smiles looked back at us, translating the silent question of “who are these special...

His words struck me hard…

His words struck me hard. They were spoken factually; they weren’t condescending or critical. Just factual, and the facts hurt. “In the US, you are bound by time; in India we are bound by relationships.”  As Neil Propst blogged, here in the US we pursue the “river of comfort.” Technology enables us to work anytime, anyplace … and many of our companies expect this behavior. We’re always “on the clock,” working relentlessly, all in the pursuit of comfort. We often work long hours in order to buy...

India Team: An incredible introduction…

Posted by on Nov 24, 2015 in India | 0 comments

November 15 Today we arrived and after a long three hours of sleep we got up to head down to Agra, the home of the Taj Mahal. Words are difficult to come up with to describe the majesty, beauty and splendor of this magnificent structure. When you consider that it was built almost 500 years ago and it is all inlaid with no painting it becomes even more impressive. It is arguably the most majestic piece of architecture, and it was built by a man as a monument to the love he had for his wife. As...

Partnership: Making a Difference in a Difficult Place

-Chuck Rapp Victor John (see pic below), Founder and President of ASSI, and Prakash James, Director of ASSI Delhi Ministries, visited the US during March and spent three days in the Indianapolis area. This included meetings with two Indy-based missions organizations, an evening of teaching and fellowship with CPCC mentors and home group leaders, and other gatherings. With tears in his eyes, Victor told us, “Your partnership with us is very special.” As was the custom of the Apostle...
