Day 8 Heading home… Final thoughts, reflections, and opportunities for action
1/26/2013 From Karin: There are not words to summarize the amazing experience we had. I know we experienced God. He was showing us His word in so many ways. We read it, we saw it, we heard it, we smelled it and we felt it. Our challenge now and always is to live it, every day. When God is as obvious as He was this week, when we are “unplugged”, when we are surrounded by positive role models and encouragement and when we have no distractions, it is much easier to be who and how God wants...

Friday, 01/25/13 Today was our “free day,” during which we visited Antigua, about and hour and a half drive. Rut, Josh and VisionTrust teachers joined us for fellowship. We started at the market, haggling for souvenirs. The vendors must have really liked us, because most every one would tell us, “The price is 90Q … but just for you, 75Q!” After a quick bite, half of our team set out on a bike tour, and the other half braved zip-lines (“canopies,” as...

1/24 Last day at the Community Center, wow, this week has flown by. What an incredible time we have had with the children, teachers and families of Los Verdes. Wednesday, 01/23/13 With our team full strength, we dove into Day Three of VBS. Today, we talked about the Great Catch. Peter, James, and John had fished all night, with no success. In the morning, while coming ashore, Jesus told them to row out for one more cast of the net. The trusted and obeyed and could barely pull in their abundant haul of fish! The kids caught paper fish with dowel rod fishing poles and paper clips, made beaded necklaces (which, importantly, will also serve as...

Tuesday, 01/22/13 We awoke to another beautiful day in Guatemala. Unfortunately, two of the team are staying in bed today with stomach sickness. We are sad for our friends, and are hoping for a quick recovery. On the way to the church building, we stopped at the site of the future permanent Learning Center. It is on the main road, with a cinder block fence and gate that opens to the wooded plot of land. Like many areas, it overlooks a valley, with mountainous views. We can picture the...
